Japanese Manchukuo Border Incident War Medal / Khalkhin Gol Battle

Bronze medal surmounted by a suspension bar bearing the inscription “War Medal”.

The obverse shows, in its upper part, the floral orchid emblem. At the center is a dove with outstretched wings, above a partial representation of the globe depicting Asia, with clouds and sun rays in the background.

The reverse bears the inscription “Border Incident”.

This medal was instituted in 1940 and commemorates the Nomonhan Incident (11 May – 16 September 1939), a clash that took place in Manchuria between the forces of Manchukuo and Japan and the Soviet Union.
