WHO IS
Lieutenant Poilu

Lieutenant Poilu, originally called Normandia Militaria, was created in 2016 by Pierre Brière in Posadas, Misiones (Argentina) where he was living at the time. He now lives between France and Argentina.
Passionate about History and more specifically the wars of the 20th century (Ww1, Ww2, Indochina), Pierre had a grandfather who fought in World War II. After being captured in June 1940, his grandfather was a prisoner of war in a Stalag in Germany from where he escaped in 1942. Captured again, he was deported/resistant in a concentration camp in Poland and managed to escape in 1944. Pierre vividly recalls the talks he had with his grandfather whom he saw as his hero. These talks and anecdotes about his great-grandfathers who fought in World War I and about other family members who were in the war in Indochina and Algeria, made Pierre passionate about war History and military antiques.
In 2023, in order to make the business grow and be able to offer more military antiques, Pierre’s best friend, Antoine, joined Lieutenant Poilu. He was also passionate about History and had a grandfather who fought in the Second World War, including in the Lorient pocket as a FFI fighter. Having returned from Ecuador to France, Antoine entered the world of military antiques and took charge of the development of the website. Together, Antoine and Pierre are dedicated to finding the best historical items in the European continent to offer you.
