WWII U.S. Canteen, 1943

Set comprising a canteen, canteen cup and canvas cover, all dating from the Second World War.
The canteen is marked “U.S. S.M. Co. 1943” (Southeastern Metal Company). It retains its original cap, while the chain securing the cap is missing.
It is accompanied by its standard-issue canteen cup, fitted with a folding metal handle. The handle shows significant oxidation, making the manufacturer’s marking no longer legible.
Canvas cover, in OD, bearing the regulation “U.S.” marking on the front and “JEFF. Q.M.D. 1943” on the reverse (Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot).
The cover retains its original snap fasteners as well as its belt attachment system, with the metal hook on the reverse.
Condition: good condition for the canteen and cover; fair condition for the cup.
