World War II-era Purple Heart, presented in its original case and accompanied by its lapel pin.

This heart-shaped decoration, featuring purple enamel with a gilt border, is made of gilded metal. At the top are George Washington’s coat of arms, represented by a shield with stars and stripes. The reverse bears the inscription: “For Military Merit.”

The medal is suspended from its purple ribbon with white edge stripes and features a “slot brooch” fastening, characteristic of World War II production.

The case, manufactured during this period by Arrow Manufacturing Company, may have an internal structure made of wood (basswood or pine) or lightweight aluminum alloys. It is covered in blackened imitation leather. The lid is decorated with the gold-stamped inscription “Purple Heart” arranged on two lines. The interior is lined with cream-colored fabric: satin in the lid and plush material in the lower compartment designed to hold the medal securely.
