US M-1905 Bayonet, WWII

US M-1905 bayonet refurbished for use during the Second World War.

Manufactured by Springfield Armory, bearing the manufacturer’s marking on the ricasso, together with the US Ordnance bomb and the 1918 production date. The opposite side of the blade bears the serial number 814018, consistent with production in 1918.

The bayonet retains its walnut grips, secured by a screw, washer and nut. Functional press stud.

It is accompanied by its M3 scabbard, manufactured by Detroit Gasket Manufacturing Co. in 1942-43, bearing the specific “S” marking beneath the Ordnance bomb.
