Nice numbered Purple Heart, Second World War. Bronze decoration with gold gilt, in the shape of a heart with purple enamel. A profile of George Washington is displayed at the centre of the heart. The top is adorned with his coat of arms, represented by a shield featuring stars and stripes. The reverse bears the inscription: “For Military Merit.”

Numbered 366,899, with the number stamped on the left edge, manufactured under the Rex Products 1942 contract.

“Slot brooch” suspension system.

The decoration is preserved in its original Second World War-era imitation leather case. The interior is lined with cream-coloured material: satin on the inside of the lid and plush fabric in the lower section designed to hold the medal.
