The central medallions, on both obverse and reverse, depict the flags of the United Kingdom and France, accompanied by the inscription in gilt letters: “Franco-British Ass. 1940–1944”.

Founded in 1933 and placed under the honorary presidency of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother of England, and of Mr. Albert Lebrun and later Mr. René Coty, Presidents of the French Republic, registered with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and a member of the Fédération Nationale André Maginot, the National Franco-British Association (a non-profit organization of general interest) aims to promote, maintain, and strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations—bonds forged through the Entente Cordiale and on the battlefields of 1914–1918 and 1939–1945, as well as in clandestine activities and the Resistance.
