Knight’s insignia of the Legion of Honour, Second Republic period (1848–1851).

Cross in hallmarked silver and enamel, with a gold central medallion.

The obverse features the effigy of Bonaparte as First Consul, along with the date of creation of the Order of the Legion of Honour, 19 May 1802. The reverse shows two crossed French tricolour-enamelled flags with the inscription below: “HONOUR AND FATHERLAND”.

Insignia accompanied by its original ribbon.

Condition: in rather poor condition, some enamel losses.
