Japanese Off to War Banner, Second World War

219,00

Japanese off-to-war banner made of high-quality silk, complete with its original metal tube and hanging cords.

At the top of the banner, one can see the imperial chrysanthemum along with the national flag crossed with the rising sun flag.

The kanji on the banner read:

“Chosen” (the name for Korea under Japanese occupation), “Pyongyang,” and “Congratulations on your enlistment, Mr. Sakaguchi Noboru, Unit 77.”

It was gifted by a person with a Korean name.

This is a particularly interesting banner addressed to a soldier residing in Pyongyang, who joined the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second World War.

Condition: Very good
