Award from the Imperial Japanese Navy, featuring a samurai helmet design on the obverse.
This decoration was awarded for outstanding performance in a torpedo competition.
A handwritten note on the back provides further information about the recipient. It was awarded to Mr. Uehara Kouji, a native of Abashiri, on the island of Hokkaido. Mr. Uehara served in the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Yokosuka naval base.
The award is in perfect condition.
It comes with its original wooden box (note the crack on the box, visible in the photos), manufactured by the renowned Hattori factory.
