The Colonial Order of Nicham El Anouar was created by the Sultan of Tadjourah (in present-day Republic of Djibouti) in 1887.

Silver knight’s star with hallmark.

Uniface insignia with ten rays, each connected by a total of ten stars.

Blue enamel center featuring a five-pointed silver star. The center is surrounded by a red enamel circle bearing an inscription in Arabic script.

Royal silver crown surmounted by a gilded crescent.

Original royal blue ribbon with a central white stripe. Copper bar with small spheres present.

The Order of Nicham El Anouar was awarded by the French government to French civilians and military personnel who served in the territories of the Somali Coast or in Central Africa for a minimum of nine years. It was officially recognized as a colonial order from 1896.
