Commemorative Plaque of the Siege of Bastogne

Octagonal brass plaque commemorating the defense of Bastogne by U.S. 101st Airborne Division troops from December 20 to 27, 1944.

The plaque features the famous quote “NUTS,” uttered by General Anthony McAuliffe in response to a German surrender demand.

It is said that these plaques were made in Belgium from melted down artillery casings.

The piece comes with a newspaper excerpt recounting its creation.
