British Helmet, Steel, Despatch Rider’s (HSDR) Mark I, from World War II, designed for motorized troops (solo motorcycle or sidecar).
The helmet is made of non-magnetic manganese steel and was manufactured by Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd (Dagenham, UK) in 1942.
The shell features a beautiful textured olive green paint typical of 1942/1943 production.
The liner is also in good condition. The liner band is secured to the shell with four brass rivets.
Four white cotton straps are used to hold the liner in place. The drawstring is present.
The liner includes two brown leather flaps, each perforated with seven holes near the ears to maintain good hearing capacity.
The chinstrap is made of leather and features a buckle fastening system.
