German bayonet model 98/05 for Mauser rifle, nicknamed “butcher blade” due to its resemblance to a butcher’s knife.

Handle with grooved wooden grips.

Manufacturer: Simson & Co., Suhl, marked on the ricasso.

The bayonet features the Prussian royal crown monogram and the “W” of Wilhelm II (Emperor William II of Prussia), along with an inspection stamp and its year of manufacture: 1915.

Steel scabbard, corresponding to a production from 1915 onwards.

Functional press-stud.
