Trooper shako of the Chasseurs à Cheval, Model 1874, with a reception stamp dated 1911 inside the crown.
The interior lining is made of leather with six “wolf teeth” and remains in fairly good condition.
The crown and band are made of leather.
Two ventilation eyelets are present.
The shako’s body is made of strong cardboard, covered with blue cloth, with a black fabric braid.
The visor is in varnished leather with a brass trim.
A stamped brass hunting horn and a stamped tricolor cockade decorate the front.
The brass chinstrap is in gourmette style, mounted on a dark blue velvet backing, with three lion-head-shaped metal hooks for attachment.
The shako Includes a pompom from the 1st squadron.
Total height: 14 cm / 5.51 inches.
Period: Third Republic, World War I.
Condition: Worn, minor signs of aging, some moth holes visible in the photos. Overall good state of preservation.
