Side cap of the Second Empire Line Infantry, Model of April 13, 1860.
Side cap with pleats made of black and garance cloth, adorned with piping in daffodil cloth.
This piping runs along the cap, following the vertical seam at the front, and joins the flap on the right side in an oblique manner. Another piping starts from the right flap and connects to the back of the cap, also obliquely. A third piping connects the left and right flaps at their upper edges.
Both flaps are also decorated with daffodil piping. These flaps measure approximately 9.7 cm (3.82 inches) at their highest point and 2 cm (0.79 inches) at their lowest.
The grenade and pompom are made of cannetille. The grenade measures approximately 6 cm x 3.4 cm (2.36 inches × 1.34 inches).
The interior of the side cap is fully lined with red basane leather and is in very good condition.
The side cap measures 28.5 cm in length and 13.5 cm in height (11.22 inches × 5.31 inches).
Condition: Good overall condition, with several moth holes visible in the photos.
