Shako model 1848 of an officer of the 2nd Legion of the National Guard.

Conical shaft made of cardboard covered with black scratched felt, with a black lacquered leather top and a silver culebrina-patterned braid.

Black velvet bourdalou at the base of the shaft. Flat black lacquered leather visor, with the underside waxed green.

Silvered copper plate featuring a rooster on a background of flags, with the globe cut out and marked with the number “2”.

Tricolor festooned metal cockade. Chinstrap with stamped silvered copper scales, with stamped rosettes, each adorned with a flaming grenade.

Interior lining in black leather with seven “wolf teeth”.

The shako is fitted with a scarlet wool pompom.
