Caucasian Flintlock Rifle “Thopi”, 19th Century

Caucasian flintlock rifle “Thopi” from the early 19th century.

The rifle features a long hexagonal barrel that flares slightly at the muzzle. There are three retaining rings along the stock.

The flintlock mechanism is of the Ottoman-Morlach type.

Two manufacturer’s marks are present on the lock plate and the barrel.

The buttplate is made of walrus ivory.

Cleaning rod is included.

Total length: 127 cm / 50 inches.

Period: First half of the 19th century.

Condition: The wooden stock requires restoration, particularly an opening in the wood approximately 20 cm (7.90 inches) long near the cleaning rod.
