1860 French China Campaign Medal
Beautiful commemorative medal for the 1860 China expedition, signed by Désiré-Albert Barre in silver (silver hallmark on the ram). On the obverse, the effigy of Napoleon III, Emperor, is framed by a laurel wreath. The reverse of the medal bears the names of the battles “TA-KOU, CHANG-KIA-WAN, PA-LI-KIAO, PE-KING” and the inscription “Expédition De Chine 1860”. The yellow silk ribbon is adorned with the ideograms 京北 (Peking) embroidered in blue silk threads. This medal was created in 1861 under the Second Empire.
