Saint Helena Medal with its Certificate: A French Veteran of the Russian Campaign

Patinated bronze Saint Helena Medal with its original certificate, awarded to Abraham Feydit, born in Eymet, France, on February 12, 1791, former Sergeant-Major in the Napoleonic Army, 29th Line Infantry Regiment.

Soldier Feydit was awarded the Legion of Honour, knight rank, on August 22, 1850.

He served in the Grande Armée from 1809 to 1814.

He took part in the Russian Campaign of 1812. He was wounded in battle, receiving a lance wound to the left thigh at the Battle of Wilna (Vilnius) in December 1812.

He was taken prisoner of war in Königsberg, East Prussia (now Kaliningrad), in January 1813.

He returned to France on November 21, 1814.

Admitted to the “Légion de la Dordogne” (13th Line Infantry Regiment) in 1814.

Joined the 44th Line Infantry Regiment in 1822 as a re-enlisted veteran for a period of 8 years.
