La m\u00e9daille, d’un diam\u00e8tre de 30 mm, est en argent. Sur l’avers, on trouve une ornementation avec un chrysanth\u00e8me dor\u00e9, des branches crois\u00e9es de mandarinier et de cerisier, ainsi que de longues banni\u00e8res portant l’inscription \u00ab Banzai ! \u00bb (Que l’Empire vive dix mille ans !). Le revers pr\u00e9sente des caract\u00e8res indiquant \u00ab Grande Intronisation \/ M\u00e9daille comm\u00e9morative \/ 4e ann\u00e9e de Taisho \/ 11e mois \u00bb en quatre lignes horizontales.<\/p>\n

Cette m\u00e9daille comm\u00e9morative a \u00e9t\u00e9 institu\u00e9e par l’\u00c9dit imp\u00e9rial n\u00b0 154 du 13 ao\u00fbt 1915 en pr\u00e9paration aux c\u00e9r\u00e9monies d’intronisation qui se sont tenues en novembre de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e dans l’ancienne capitale, Kyoto. Selon cet \u00e9dit, la m\u00e9daille devait \u00eatre d\u00e9cern\u00e9e \u00ab \u00e0 ceux convoqu\u00e9s pour la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de \u201csenso\u201d (accession au tr\u00f4ne) ; \u00e0 ceux invit\u00e9s au Grand Banquet de Couronnement et \u00e0 la Grande C\u00e9r\u00e9monie d’Accession ; \u00e0 ceux invit\u00e9s aux banquets organis\u00e9s en divers lieux ; ainsi qu’\u00e0 ceux qui officieraient ou serviraient en lien avec l’intronisation \u00bb. L’empereur japonais n’est pas couronn\u00e9 mais acc\u00e8de au tr\u00f4ne \u00e0 travers des c\u00e9r\u00e9monies traditionnelles, riches en splendeur et fastes, habituellement tenues \u00e0 Kyoto.<\/p>\n
