Sur l\u2019avers figure une Victoire ail\u00e9e, repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e debout, en pied et de face. Au revers figure l\u2019inscription \u00ab THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION \u00bb, ainsi que le bouclier des \u00c9tats-Unis portant les lettres \u00ab U.S. \u00bb, surmont\u00e9 d\u2019un faisceau de licteur (<em>fasces<\/em>). Les noms des nations alli\u00e9es et associ\u00e9es figurent de chaque c\u00f4t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Le ruban en soie, d\u2019une largeur de 3,6 cm, repr\u00e9sente deux arcs-en-ciel plac\u00e9s c\u00f4te \u00e0 c\u00f4te, avec la couleur rouge au centre.<\/p>\n<p>Les cinq agrafes sont mont\u00e9es dans leur ordre officiel :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AISNE \u2014 27 mai \u2013 5 juin 1918<\/li>\n<li>MONTDIDIER-NOYON \u2014 9 \u2013 13 juin 1918<\/li>\n<li>ST. MIHIEL \u2014 12 \u2013 16 septembre 1918<\/li>\n<li>MEUSE-ARGONNE \u2014 26 septembre \u2013 11 novembre 1918<\/li>\n<li>DEFENSIVE SECTOR<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La combinaison des cinq agrafes refl\u00e8te les op\u00e9rations auxquelles le r\u00e9cipiendaire a effectivement particip\u00e9. Leur attribution d\u00e9pendait de la pr\u00e9sence effective du militaire sous ordres comp\u00e9tents et pouvait concerner des hommes appartenant \u00e0 une organisation, qui y \u00e9taient attach\u00e9s ou qui la servaient dans une capacit\u00e9 ind\u00e9pendante. La combinaison des agrafes pouvait donc diff\u00e9rer de celle attribu\u00e9e \u00e0 une division dans son ensemble, notamment selon la p\u00e9riode d\u2019affectation du militaire et les
