Il combattit sur le front occidental durant toute la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale et obtint vingt-huit battle honours.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 partir de novembre 1941, il fut transform\u00e9 en unit\u00e9 d\u2019infanterie a\u00e9roport\u00e9e transport\u00e9e par planeurs, int\u00e9gr\u00e9e \u00e0 la 1st Airlanding Brigade de la 1st Airborne Division. Le bataillon participa notamment \u00e0 l\u2019op\u00e9ration Market Garden et joua un r\u00f4le important lors de la bataille d\u2019Arnhem (17\u201325 septembre 1944).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img
