Japan, WWII: Hinomaru Yosegaki of a Kendo Master
Good-luck Japanese flag (Hinomaru Yosegaki) presented to a Kendo master upon his departure for the front.
The flag bears numerous inscriptions, including:
- “Congratulations to Nakatsu Shoushichi Sensei on his enlistment in the army.”
- “Sacrifice your life for the Emperor.”
- “Be loyal!”
The flag is signed by many members of the Kendo club, including an infantry colonel: Kawaguchi Iwakichi.
The corner cords used to attach the flag to a pole or rifle are still present.
Flag made of silk.
