British Crimea Medal, Clasps Sebastopol and Inkermann

Silver Crimea Medal with two clasps: Sebastopol and Inkermann.

The obverse of the medal features the profile of Queen Victoria with the legend VICTORIA REGINA and the date 1854.

The reverse shows the standing figure of a Roman warrior holding a shield and a short sword, being crowned with laurel by the winged figure of Victory.

The medal has its original ornate swivelling suspender.

Medal named on the rim with the initials: A.M.

Silver clasps bearing the maker’s mark JLC (John Leake & Co. ?)

Total weight: 42.29 grams.

Condition: Good

Instituted on 15 December 1854, this medal was awarded to British forces (and certain French troops) who took part in the campaign against the Russians in the Crimean Peninsula and surrounding waters.
